Artist Statement

My work begins with something personal — a question, an idea, something I have been reading or sitting with. Painting is the way I work through it. I am interested in what is universal inside what feels private, and in finding the visual language that holds both at once.

I work in acrylic, enamel and pigmented ink, building surfaces in layers. Nothing arrives quickly. Colour and texture accumulate until the work feels true. I paint large because I want the work to have a physical presence — to occupy a room the way a feeling does.

I am based in Brisbane, Australia, where I paint and run a small art production studio.
